Sleeping Under the Stars

Last night I slept under the stars.

No, I don’t mean outdoors, surrounded by bugs and dirt. I mean indoors in my dorm room, surrounded by… Well— a mattress, blankets and air conditioning. The stars I am referring to are the sticky stars often found on a child’s bedroom ceiling.

It’s now 3:41a and I can’t sleep. My life seems so full of things to do right now. Books that are over due for reading. Papers that need to be written. Starbucks is constantly calling me to work either here in Columbia or Augusta, GA. Friends who want my attention. A God who craves all of me. Life is full. Tonight I think it is too full. I think I need to start at the most important thing— GOD— and then allow everything to fall into place from there. I’ve got to get caught up on the academic stuff, but I think HE should come first.

Augusta was interesting. It was great to get to work with some of the partners I trained over the summer. It was also good to see that their training has paid off and they are succeeding in “Starbucks Life.”

ONE THOUGHT FROM AUGUSTA: I don’t think it is ethical for Starbucks to have a drive-thru. I really wonder why people pay $1.84 for a cup of coffee via the Starbucks drive-thru. Yeah, our coffee does taste considerably better than McDonald’s or Dunkin’ Doughnuts, but at least get out of your car and take the time to come into our store, enjoy the atmosphere and have a cup of coffee. I guess we live in a totally convenience driven society. Waiting in line at the drive-thru is easier then waiting in line inside a store.
(Okay— I am done venting about the Starbucks drive-thru. I just hate it.)

I have been thinking a lot about GRACE of late. It is hard for me as an individual to receive grace from GOD. I often think that GOD can much easier forgive anyone for any sin, except myself. For some reason I have a hard time accepting His grace and forgiveness. What are your thoughts?

grace. grace. GOD’S grace.
grace that will pardon and cleanse within.
grace. grace. GOD’S grace.
grace that is greater than all my sin.

James…you are such an encouragment!! And I agree with the drive-through…..people are just lazy and missing out on the coolness of the store 🙂 Have a great day!!
